Scott Thomas
Percussion Arranger, Instructor & Clinician

Scott Thomas has been working as a percussion educator, composer, performer, clinician and consultant since 1996. Currently, Scott works as a Percussion Arranger and Consultant for band programs and ensembles across the country. Most recently, he was the Director of Percussion Education and Arranger for Orange High School in Hillsborough, North Carolina and Apex Friendship High School in Apex, North Carolina.

Scott is the former Director of Percussion Education and Arranger at Eastern Randolph High School. While under his instruction, they became one of the top percussion programs in the southeast and also took home the bronze medal at the CWEA Indoor Championships their first season out after being promoted to a higher class. He is also the former Director of Percussion Studies and Arranger at George Washington High School, where he built the percussion section into one of the premier programs in the state. Scott has taught and written for over 30 programs at the High School, University and Drum Corps level.

During his early childhood Scott started playing drums. When he was three years old, he got his first drum set. Throughout his school years, Scott continued his musical education. He is a graduate of Orange High School in Hillsborough, North Carolina where he was in every music course and ensemble offered and was also Drumline Captain.

In his sophomore year of high school Scott began writing music and then started teaching drumlines after graduation. He has taught and arranged for very many successful programs, and has led all of his groups to award winning seasons. Some groups include: George Washington HS - Danville, Virginia, West Johnston HS - Benson, North Carolina, Orange HS - Hillsborough, North Carolina, and many more.

Scott also has experience in the Drum Corps and Indoor activity as a performer, arranger, and instructor. Some groups include: Crossmen Drum & Bugle Corps - Newark, Delaware (Member), Virginia Helmsmen Percussion Ensemble - Danville, Virginia (Instructor), Shockwave Percussion Ensemble - Durham, North Carolina (Member/Captain/Instructor), and Carolina Gold Drum & Bugle Corps - Raleigh, North Carolina (Caption Head/Arranger).

During the time Scott was a member of the Crossmen Drumline, they were one of the top five drumlines in the world. He was also the drumline captain for Shockwave Percussion Ensemble, a WGI Independent Open Finalist.

Throughout his career, Scott has accumulated very many first place and high percussion awards along with a DCA High Percussion Title. He is looking down the road to future projects, along with developing more relationships with clients and updating his home studio.

Nick Golding
Music Arranger, Instructor & Clinician

Nick has been an active member in the band and drum corps activity since 1994, acting as a performer, adjudicator, designer, and educator.

As a performer, Nick was a member of the Tarheel Sun Drum and Bugle Corps from 1997-1999, marching both mellophone and soprano bugles. After one year as a member of the Western Carolina University marching band, Nick joined the US Navy as a French horn instrumentalist and staff arranger, serving in both capacities for seven years. Upon his departure from the Navy, Nick performed for three more years as a member of the Appalachian Brass Orchestra and the Atlanta Pops Orchestra.

Nick has been an adjudicator for the last seven years, judging across the entire southeastern portion of the United States. His adjudicator training and affiliations include or have included the West Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association, the United States Scholastic Band Association, the Florida Marching Band Coalition, and the Central States Judges Association.

As a designer, Nick has composed and arranged for many bands and drum corps across the United States. He received his training at the Armed Forces School of Music’s arranging course, and provided arrangements for some of the US Navy’s finest rock, jazz, and concert bands. In 2006, he composed an original work, Pieces of a Dream, for the Teal Sound Drum and Bugle Corps, and composed Antithesis for the Spokane Thunder Drum and Bugle Corps in 2008.

Nick holds a master’s degree in music education from Piedmont College, and is the Director of Bands at Madison County High School in Danielsville, GA. He has served as a technician and consultant for nearly thirty bands across the southeastern US, and spent the fall of 2006 as an instructor for the University of Tennessee’s “Pride of the Southland” marching band. Nick served as the brass caption head for Teal Sound in 2006, and as program coordinator/brass caption head for Spokane Thunder in 2008.
